clint mcbain photoBreaking into the Canadian National Pro ranks as a privateer in 1999, McBain quickly established himself as “the one to watch for”. His aggressive attitude and fierce perseverance caught the eyes of manufacturers from his debut ride and landed him on a factory supported team in 1999. Launching himself into his new career, McBain swept three consecutive rounds in the Supersport class of the Nationals that year and narrowly missed out on claiming his first National title.

In 2001, the young Westerner was instrumental in orchestrating the highly visible Blackfoot Suzuki Race Team. With the new found support, McBain seized the 2002 Canadian National 600 Sportbike Championship and finished 2nd overall in the Open Sportbike championship as well. In 2003, his first year in the Superbike class, McBain finished inside the top five and was runner up in the 600 Sportbike class. The following year was a year of change with new crews and equipment. McBain represented his team with strong performances in both classes and was Suzuki’s top rider in the illustrious Superbike class. 2005 brought the team great success with McBain winning 2 Superbike rounds and finishing 3rd overall. In the Sportbike division, McBain was, once again the top Suzuki rider, finishing 2nd overall.

With unforeseen technical challenges, the team suffered the setback of 3 DNF’s, leaving them in a catch-up position for much of the season. McBain traveled to Japan in July to compete at Suzuka by invitation and upon return, the team pulled together to earn 4th in the 600 Sportbike standings and finish, once again as the highest ranking Suzuki in that class.

Competing in 2007, 2008 and 2009 earning top Privateer honors with National title finishes in the top three and always a podium contender, McBain has turned his sights to his young protege, Cody Matechuk. As one of few former competitors to have founded and managed a successful Privateer team. Two years of operation and two National Titles to his credit, this dynamic team owner continues to grow his distributorship and team into a Natioanlly recognized entity.
